Over the past 1 1/2 years, Favorites Anywhere! has been a huge part of our lives, both personally and professionally. For me personally it was one of the greatest joys, and my best work professionally.
Last week, our server was attacked by the Nimda worm. During our repair attempts, our server crashed and died. Several very lengthy and expensive attempts were made to repair the server, but we were not able to isolate the problem and are not able to even install an operating system. We have even purchased 2 new hard drives but neither allowed us even to install the OS. The problem is likely a CPU, RAM, cache or MB problem.
Currently Favorites Anywhere! does not the financial means to purchase the needed new server. In fact, this page is being hosted by our only remaining workstation. As the founder of Favorites Anywhere! I have been funding the project since its inception. However, at this time Favorites Anywhere! does not have the funds to purchase the new server that it so desperately needs.
I realize that your immediate concern is your bookmarks. Unfortunately, we have no way of accessing them, as we cannot host a database of FA!’s size on this workstation. We have thought about, and tried many different ways for members to export their bookmarks, but we cannot find a solution. I sincerely and deeply apologize for this. I realize more than anyone how important your bookmarks are to your work, school and personal life. This was the very inspiration that started Favorites Anywhere! Hopefully, many of you were able to use the export function to export your bookmarks on a regular basis.
As a company, we make this post with a very heavy heart. However, we do want to thank all our members for the past year and a half. The support and feedback from you members has been outstanding. Founding Favorites Anywhere! and watching it grow brought more pride to me than anything I’ve ever experienced.
Unless something drastically changes, Favorites Anywhere! will be shut down indefinitely. My greatest wish is to find some way to restore the site, however, financially this just is not possible. I again offer my most sincere apology, and thank you for being such wonderful members.
